Shared Interest Groups

Rules and procedures

SIGs are member-led groups for learning, socializing, and enjoyment. These guidelines help every group remain welcoming, organized, and aligned with OLÉ!’s mission.

Purpose and participation

SIGs are open to OLÉ! members. They may not promote products or services, conduct business, or engage in political activities.

Costs and access

There is no fee to join except when materials require it. Members may pay directly for activities such as meals or transportation. Groups may set a size limit or appropriate skill requirement.

How each SIG operates

  • Establish its own meeting schedule and location; OLÉ! generally does not provide meeting space.
  • Designate a coordinator and alternate, or two coordinators.
  • Use membership and email lists only for SIG business.
  • Remain inclusive, respectful, and consistent with OLÉ!’s purposes and values.

Coordinator responsibilities

  • Maintain a member list and record attendance at meetings.
  • Keep members informed about dates, times, locations, and changes.
  • Update the SIG information shown on the OLÉ! website.
  • Respond to prospective members and requests to join.
  • Periodically report activities, participation, meeting information, leadership changes, and concerns to the SIG Committee.
  • Provide membership and attendance records to the SIG Committee when requested.

Safety and privacy

Photos or video may require signed permission forms. Groups involving potentially risky activities must use appropriate safety procedures and may require signed waivers or releases.
